President's Message
2008/2009

Message from the President

Welcome to the Kansas City Symphony Guild. We are a diverse Northland group of young mothers and grandmothers, business and professional women, housewives and retirees-all volunteers who have been supporting the welfare of the Kansas City Symphony since 1971.

We gather monthly to enjoy each other’s company, to work on projects, and to learn what is new at the Symphony. Our committees work year round planning events for the community’s enjoyment.

In November the Homes of Note Tour featured three beautiful homes and a historic inn in Parkville. A pre-tour party, a luncheon, and holiday boutiques provided a festive welcome to the holidays.

Our second major fundraiser of the season is March 15, 2009. The Cabaret Concert is a much loved Northland tradition. The concert will feature the Kansas City Symphony under the direction of Steven Jarvi. The festivities include a silent auction and dinner followed by the concert. The Symphony will perform the program “Viennese Nights”. Reservations are available. For more information click on the Cabaret Concert topics above. We thank our generous donor, The Bill and Sue Woods Charitable Fund, and our sponsors, Schott Industries,Inc. and Schott Insurance Agency, and The Michael and Susan Newburger Foundation. Their loyal support to the Guild and Symphony help make the Cabaret Concert possible.

It is my pleasure to lead the Guild during the 2008-09 season. On behalf of all our members I invite you to enjoy our annual Homes of Note Tour and Cabaret Concert  to help us ensure that our resident professional orchestra will keep the music playing for children and adults in the Metropolitan Kansas City area for years to come.
