2008 Cabaret Concert is Another Guild Success!
Once more the Guild’s Cabaret Concert was a social and financial success. Financially, the silent auction raised over $10,000. Socially, there has been a torrent of compliments about the food, the music and the fun.
Harrah’s food and service were exemplary! From the individually served garden salad with strawberries and warm bacon dressing to the whipped-cream topping on the key lime cheesecake, Harrah’s chefs and servers did not miss a step at any one of the 39 tables. The dual entrée of chicken picata along with sliced beef with Bordelaise sauce was very well received. As a grand finale to their performance, Harrah’s topped each dessert with a British flag that they had handmade, one by one, on an assembly line of Harrah’s staff members!
Under the baton of Damon Gupton, the Symphony orchestra performed magnificently at its usual standard of excellence. The program of British-themed music was lively and bright from the strident opening of Elgar’s "Pomp and Circumstance" through the delightful end of "Pirates of the Caribbean." Many of the attendees commented about the thrilling experience of hearing that grand orchestra perform in such an intimate setting.
Special thanks are extended to Cabaret Concert's sponsors: Bill and Sue Woods Charitable Foundation; Michael and Susan Newburger Foundation; Schott Industries, Inc. & Schott Insurance Agency, Inc.; and Tuileries Plaza.
